My preparations for the Mr. Utah 2008
My preparations started after I had already toned down to around 190lbs for our State Swat Teams physical fitness test. The test required strength, conditioning, and muscular endurance. After completing the test, I started training for the Mr. Utah. My goal was to stay as lean as I could, while gaining lean muscle mass. In the pictures, starting on the left you can see my progress as I gained size for the contest. My weight really change over the course of 20 weeks. I started at 190lbs, to 215lbs, to 223, down to 210lbs, to on stage at 201lbs. I was able to adjust my nutrition to fit my body style and add proper training and cardio to take 2nd place in the Mr. Utah Heavy Weight Division. Special thanks to my personal trainer who helped me prepare.

One of the most important things about getting into shape is developing good habits and having a program designed for your specific goals. It take days, week, months to burn fat and build muscle. Rome wasn't build in a week. Most diets achieve fat lose at the expense of losing muscle. This hurts your metabolism and is the reason why these diets don't work. Losing muscle is unacceptable.

Why is learning how to lose weight and build lean muscle from a natural bodybuilder the key to success. Bodybuilders have the understanding of food, the timing on when to eat, and what foods to eat at what time. Bodybuilders have also mastered the art of burning fat while maintaining muscle. A natural bodybuilders way to lose fat is incredibly effective, because it's a lifestyle and will teach you good nutritional habits you can maintain for life.
Applying the Titans workouts with my bodybuilding training. I've been able to compete as a Heavyweight in the sport of bodybuilding. I started training for my first show in 2007. I then went on to get my personal training certifications from NASM. National Academy of Sports Medicine. I love the discipline and the passion it takes to prepare for a bodybuilding competition. The sport has taken my fitness and my personal training to the next level.

In any sport, you will find athletes who push themselves to win. Their training is hard, but they have a motive, reason to work day in and day out. There is a goal. Something they can focus on. A vision.

Setting a goal that has a reward at the end is what gives you the edge. Something to prepare for like, a Triathlon, 1/2 Marathon, competition, to fit into a little black dress for a wedding, or looking good for a vacation. This is wear you will find your motivation to train. When it's all said and done you will have something to show for all your hard work and gives you that feeling of accomplishment.
